Heating and air conditioning systems consume more of your utility bills than all other devices in your home combined. If your system is 7+ years old and/or you do not have it serviced regularly, chances are that you’re wasting hundreds if not thousands of dollars each year on unnecessary electricity and gas usage. Let Coastal Comfort Systems assess your current system and provide you with options that can save you money and keep you more comfortable in your home for years to come.
Is It Time To Replace My HVAC System?
If you are experiencing any of the below issues, it may be time to replace your system. Residential HVAC systems can last 10 to 15 years or longer if properly maintained; however, these systems generally begin to show a significant loss in efficiency well before that, especially in systems that were not properly maintained.
HVAC systems are all about efficiency. The minimum SEER rating (think efficiency and cooling performance, and the higher the better) for systems installed prior to 2006 was 10. Effective 2023, the minimum SEER rating for residential systems in the southern United States will be 15. In many situations, homeowners with older systems that upgrade to a 15+ SEER system can expect to lower their utility bills by 50% or more while also benefitting from a much more comfortable home.
